The FCP Story
1986 – THE START OF IT ALL
FCP started as a small family-owned operation in 1986, when Harry and Kathy Bauer bought ‘Foreign Car Parts of Groton’, located in Groton, CT. Throughout high school and college Nick Bauer, son of Harry and Kathy Bauer, worked at the store helping his parents behind the counter answering phone calls and fulfilling customer orders.
2000 – FCPGROTON GOES ONLINE
In 2000, Nick began selling parts online, which became the first step in taking a once local community shop to consumers worldwide. When Nick purchased the domain for the website, he felt that ‘Foreign Car Parts of Groton’ was too long so he shortened it to FCP Groton.
Scott Drozd (the current CEO of FCP) came on board shortly after to help Nick with his rapidly growing business. For several years, Nick and Scott ran the entire operation: answering phone calls; picking and packing orders; even filling their cars with all the orders for the day and driving them down to the local post office to be shipped out.
2008 – OPERATIONS MOVE TO OLD SAYBROOK
FCP quickly ran out of space in Groton and moved to a warehouse center in Old Saybrook, where we currently reside.
The retail store is still located in Groton and has maintained it’s local customer base now for over twenty years.
